We’ve upgraded characters’ bodies, heads, and regular clothes, but we’re not anywhere near done. Now we’ll continue on to robes, armor, and weapons.

(Re)installing Morrowind, Pt. 7: Body and Clothing Replacers
Morrowind’s character models have always been… well, terrible, really. Thankfully the modding community stepped up and rebuilt them, so you no longer have to wander Vvardenfell looking like a twisted freak of nature. Updating the character graphics must be done in multiple steps, because the mods are fairly specialized. We have different mods for humanoid bodies, beast-race bodies, textures, heads and hair, clothing, armor, and weapons. Most of those we will cover in this update. Get ready to look your best!
(Re)installing Morrowind, Pt. 7.5: Basic Quality of Life Improvements | Morrowind Modding Guide 2023
Now that we have fixed most of the bugs, we’re going to make a few improvements to gameplay, most of which are optional. Remember, this guide is meant to be purist-friendly, but that doesn’t mean purist-only. The addons on this page are well worth a look even if you’re a diehard vanilla Morrowind fan, but it won’t hurt you to skip them (beyond not receiving their benefits, of course).
This will also allow you to experience Morrowind more closely to how it was designed, albeit with fewer bugs and better gameplay. When we reach the point of anything advanced enough to be game-altering rather than game-improving, I’ll let you know.
(Re)installing Morrowind, Pt. 5: Patch for Purists and Load Order | Morrowind Modding Guide 2023
Now that we’ve established some good habits for organizing your Morrowind directory, it’s time to install your very first Morrowind addons — or at least the first that are actually regular addons and not a whole separate program. These mods will get rid of blurriness and artifacts in the vanilla graphics and fix thousands of bugs. You’ll also learn about managing your load order and activating mods for use in the game.
(Re)installing Morrowind, Pt. 4: Mod Installation Best Practices | Morrowind Modding Guide 2023
Now that we are through tinkering with the Morrowind Code Patch and MGE XE, it’s time to install some regular addons. We’re going to start with some important bug fixes, but first I’ll explain general addon usage, along with my suggestion for an ideal way to keep everything organized. If you’re using MO2, you won’t need some of the organizational tips, but you should read through the basics anyway.
(Re)installing Morrowind, Pt. 3: Morrowind Graphics Extender (and More) | Morrowind Modding Guide 2023
Now that we have the game working and patched, it’s time to set up a few graphical improvements. At the very least, we need to fix our screen resolution. I highly recommend doing this early on, as it may influence your later decisions over which texture upgrades to use, if any. Screen resolution and other basics are what this section of the guide focuses on — more advanced graphics will come later.
(Re)installing Morrowind, Pt. 2: Morrowind Code Patch (and More) | Morrowind Modding Guide 2023
So, we’ve got the game installed and working, what’s next? The Morrowind Code Patch (MCP) includes both fixes to problems with the game’s base code (things hardcoded into the .exe that can’t be fixed by simple addons) and additional features to alter or improve gameplay.
(Re)installing Morrowind, Pt. 1: Basic Installation | Morrowind Modding Guide 2023
So here I am, reinstalling Morrowind for the hundredth time. Hard drive failure and the recent death of my Xbox’s disc reading capabilities got together and convinced me to do it. This is an epic path which I have trod before, and I decided this time I’ll be intelligent about it and actually write down what I’m doing so as to ease the process for myself when, inevitably, I have to reinstall on the next computer. I have decided to bring you along for this journey. Yay!
